Faug7 Ukulele Chord

Built from F, A, C#, and D#, Faug7 is a spiky dominant chord whose augmented fifth tilts it toward instability. This is a turnaround favorite in jazz and funk, where its bluesy pull and edgy bite set up a satisfying resolution to a minor chord.

How to Play This Chord

Position your fingers on the fretboard as shown in the diagram. The vertical lines represent the four strings, from the top G string (left) to the A string (right), and the horizontal lines are the frets. Numbers inside the dots indicate which finger to use: 1 (index), 2 (middle), 3 (ring), 4 (pinky). An X means don't play that string; an O means play it open. A bar spanning multiple strings means one finger presses across all of them at once — this is known as a barre chord.

Tips & Tricks

This shape uses all four fingers on staggered frets — index on the E string at fret 1, middle on the G string at fret 2, ring on the C string at fret 3, and pinky on the A string at fret 4. The diagonal spread is awkward at first, so set the pinky last and keep your wrist forward to reach fret 4 cleanly.

There are many ways to play this chord. Try these:

AECG 2 3 1 4 2 3 1 4
AECG 4 1 3 2 4 1 3 2
AECG 2 1 3 4 2 1 3 4
AECG 2 1 4 3 1 4 2 1
