Cm7 Ukulele Chord

A warm, mellow minor seventh spelling out C, D#, G and A#. Its smooth, slightly jazzy color shows up in funk, soul, R&B and bossa nova, and it works nicely as a relaxed minor anchor in keys like C minor or Eb major.

How to Play This Chord

Position your fingers on the fretboard as shown in the diagram. The vertical lines represent the four strings, from the top G string (left) to the A string (right), and the horizontal lines are the frets. Numbers inside the dots indicate which finger to use: 1 (index), 2 (middle), 3 (ring), 4 (pinky). An X means don't play that string; an O means play it open. A bar spanning multiple strings means one finger presses across all of them at once — this is known as a barre chord.

Tips & Tricks

This is a movable barre shape: lay your index flat across all four strings at the third fret and press evenly so the G, C, E and A strings all ring. If the barre buzzes, roll your finger slightly onto its bony side and tuck your thumb behind the neck. Slide the whole shape up two frets and you get Dm7.
