Aaug Ukulele Chord

Aaug draws together A, C# and F, sharpening the fifth so the triad hovers without resolving. Its dreamy, expectant tension suits jazz turnarounds and atmospheric pop alike, and the symmetrical fingering repeats up the neck to also voice C#aug and Faug.

How to Play This Chord

Position your fingers on the fretboard as shown in the diagram. The vertical lines represent the four strings, from the top G string (left) to the A string (right), and the horizontal lines are the frets. Numbers inside the dots indicate which finger to use: 1 (index), 2 (middle), 3 (ring), 4 (pinky). An X means don't play that string; an O means play it open. A bar spanning multiple strings means one finger presses across all of them at once — this is known as a barre chord.

Tips & Tricks

Lay your index across the C and E strings at fret 1, drop your ring finger onto the high G string at fret 2, and rest your middle finger on the E string. Keep the A string open. The three fingers clustered near the nut feel tight — curl each one over its tip so the open A rings clearly and none of the strings buzz.

There are many ways to play this chord. Try these:
