Fsus2 Ukulele Chord

A warm, open suspended chord made from F, G and C. Easy and resonant, it suits gentle folk and pop strumming and works nicely as a passing color around an F major chord.

Also known as

  • F sus2
  • F suspended 2nd
  • F suspended second

How to Play This Chord

Position your fingers on the fretboard as shown in the diagram. The vertical lines represent the four strings, from the top G string (left) to the A string (right), and the horizontal lines are the frets. Numbers inside the dots indicate which finger to use: 1 (index), 2 (middle), 3 (ring), 4 (pinky). An X means don't play that string; an O means play it open. A bar spanning multiple strings means one finger presses across all of them at once — this is known as a barre chord.

Tips & Tricks

Let the G and C strings ring open, then press the E string at fret 1 with your index and the A string at fret 3 with your ring finger. Keep both fretting fingers arched so the two open strings beside them sound cleanly instead of getting deadened.

There are many ways to play this chord. Try these:

AECG 0 0 1 3 0 0 1 3
AECG 3 1 0 0 3 1 0 0
AECG 0 1 0 3 0 1 0 3
AECG 0 1 3 0 1 3 0 1
