F#sus2 Ukulele Chord

A bright, tightly voiced suspended chord built from F#, G# and C#. Its open, third-less sound adds lift to pop and rock progressions and makes a fresh substitute for a plain F# major.

How to Play This Chord

Position your fingers on the fretboard as shown in the diagram. The vertical lines represent the four strings, from the top G string (left) to the A string (right), and the horizontal lines are the frets. Numbers inside the dots indicate which finger to use: 1 (index), 2 (middle), 3 (ring), 4 (pinky). An X means don't play that string; an O means play it open. A bar spanning multiple strings means one finger presses across all of them at once — this is known as a barre chord.

Tips & Tricks

Barre the G and C strings at fret 1 with your index, add your middle finger on the E string at fret 2, then stretch your pinky to the A string at fret 4. That wide pinky reach is the hard part — keep your wrist relaxed and forward, and press the index barre firmly so both top strings ring.

There are many ways to play this chord. Try these:

AECG 1 1 2 4 1 1 2 4
AECG 4 2 1 1 4 2 1 1
AECG 1 2 1 4 1 2 1 4
AECG 1 2 4 1 2 4 1 2
