Bsus2 Ukulele Chord

A bright, ringing suspended chord built from B, C# and F#. Open and unresolved, it lends a lifting, hopeful color to pop and rock and makes a smooth lead-in to B major.

Also known as

  • B sus2
  • B suspended 2nd
  • B suspended second

How to Play This Chord

Position your fingers on the fretboard as shown in the diagram. The vertical lines represent the four strings, from the top G string (left) to the A string (right), and the horizontal lines are the frets. Numbers inside the dots indicate which finger to use: 1 (index), 2 (middle), 3 (ring), 4 (pinky). An X means don't play that string; an O means play it open. A bar spanning multiple strings means one finger presses across all of them at once — this is known as a barre chord.

Tips & Tricks

This is the movable barre shape played higher up, starting around fret 4. Barre all four strings with your index, add your ring finger on the C string two frets up, and your pinky on the E string one fret above that. The frets are narrower this high, so the barre comes a little easier — just keep steady pressure.

There are many ways to play this chord. Try these:

AECG 1 3 4 1 1 3 4 1
AECG 1 4 3 1 1 4 3 1
AECG 1 4 3 1 1 4 3 1
AECG 1 4 1 3 4 1 1 4
