AmMaj7 Ukulele Chord
Deceptively simple, AmMaj7 draws A, C, E and the glinting G# major seventh from a nearly open shape. That single bright note over the minor triad creates a haunting, expectant mood, making it a favorite for dramatic ballads and atmospheric jazz turns.

How to Play This Chord
Position your fingers on the fretboard as shown in the diagram. The vertical lines represent the four strings, from the top G string (left) to the A string (right), and the horizontal lines are the frets. Numbers inside the dots indicate which finger to use: 1 (index), 2 (middle), 3 (ring), 4 (pinky). An X means don't play that string; an O means play it open. A bar spanning multiple strings means one finger presses across all of them at once — this is known as a barre chord.
Tips & Tricks
Place your index finger on the G string at fret 1 and let the C, E and A strings ring completely open. It looks effortless, but the one job is to arch that index high so it presses cleanly without brushing the open C string beside it — a light, precise touch keeps all four notes crisp.
